Day One

  • Arrive in Lamu by air or bus, be met by staff from the Seafront Guesthouse and go directly to the Guesthouse and Cafe for some refreshments and lunch.
  • Settle into the guesthouse, relax, catch your breath, shower and refresh ready for your Lamu adventure.
  • Visit Lamu and get oriented with a guided walking tour of the Old Town, hear the history and see the sights!
  • Visit the huge old Fort in the main square, built by the Sultan of Oman.
  • Dinner at the Seafront Cafe
  • Sleep at the Seafront Guesthouse, Somoe Roof Top Room with private roof terrace.

Day Two

  • Breakfast at the Seafront Cafe.
  • Take a boat to the 13km white sand Shela beach and enjoy the pristine coastline, swim in the warm water and wander round Shela Village – East Africa’s millionaires playground! Enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach.
  • In the afternoon visit the Donkey Sanctuary, and see how the biggest workforce in Lamu is taken care of.
  • Get a (temporary!) henna tattoo from a local female henna artist.
  • Dinner at the Seafront Cafe.
  • Another night in your beautiful rooftop room.

 

Day Three

  • Breakfast at the Seafront Cafe.
  • Collection from the Seafront to begin the second leg of your stay. Sail the old fashioned way around the Lamu channel and go fishing, see if you can catch your own lunch!
  • Arrive at Tranquillity Camp, settle in and enjoy the scenery and peace!
  • Dinner served on the terrace. Stargazing from the telescope on the roof – with no light pollution you will be amazed at what you see.
  • Drift off to sleep in your own wooden cabin set on stilts over the water.

 

Day Four

  • Breakfast at Tranquillity Camp.
  • Day trip out on kayaks, around the mangrove channels up to the famous ancient ruins at Takwa.
  • Entrance into Takwa to explore the ruins and enjoy a picnic lunch.
  • Relaxing afternoon at Tranquillity Camp, chilling on the jetty, watching dhows sail by, or reading on the flower covered terrace.
  • As the sun goes down, we’ll light the fire pit and serve you with an alcoholic sundowner, the perfect end to a magical stay.
  • Another night in your bed-over-the sea, a totally unique experience in Lamu.

 

Day Five

  • Breakfast at Tranquillity Camp.
  • Relaxing morning.
  • Motorbike taxi to the airport.

 

** Please note that certain activities in the Lamu holiday package” are tidal dependent and therefore it may be more suitable for you to start your stay at Tranquility Camp and transfer to Lamu Island at the end – i.e the trip may happen in reverse.
** All meals are included in the price of your stay, you will be offered a variety of local foods – fish, crab, lobster, prawns, but if you are vegetarian or have other dietary requirements then just let us know when you book so that we can ensure we provide the best for you.
** All activities are included – boat hire, entrance to the Fort, Takwa ruins etc.
